01 Jun New Survey Says Greater GDPR Compliance Needed from APAC Marketers
According to a recent joint-survey by SAP Hybris and the CMO Council, barely more than half of marketers in the Asia-Pacific region had a plan in place to comply with GDPR, with some still trying to implement changes.
SAP’s Patrick Salyer says that this is partly caused by the misconception about the ‘legitimate interest’ clause that marketers think will give them a leeway to use personal data without user consent.
Salyer also pointed out that regulation similar to the GDPR already exist in a number of APAC countries such as Singapore, Japan, and the Philippines. However, adtech firm Unruly advises brands to still put the effort to comply, not only to avoid fines, but to win back and retain consumer trust.
