08 Dec New Study Says More Than Half of Indian Android Apps Have Access to User Location
A recent study by Arrka Consulting revealed that around 69 percent of Android apps from Indian firms have access to the exact location data of a user’s device.
The “State of Privacy of Indian Mobile Apps and Website – 2018” says that there has been no change in the average number of permissions taken by apps that qualify as a serious privacy breach. Indian apps, in particular, ask for 45 percent more permissions compared to their global counterparts.
Additionally, a significantly higher number of Indian apps access to SMS, microphone, phone, and contacts. The study also saw that 79 percent of apps have access to IDs and call details, and as high as 99 percent send data to the third party.
