New Service Helps Parents Know if Their Child is a Victim of Identity Theft

Experian, a credit reporting firm, recently announced a new service called Child ID Scan which can help parents discover if their child is a victim of identity theft.

The free, one-time service will check the child’s social security number is linked with an Experian credit file. If it is, the company’s fraud resolution team will then help the parents take the necessary steps to secure their child’s identity.

A recent survey by Experian revealed that identity theft is becoming a big problem for people under the age of 18. Experts say that there is a big possibility for children whose identities have been stolen to begin their adult life with bad credit due to fraudulent activities committed by hackers and scammers.
