23 Aug New Report Says New EU Data Rules Driving Demand for Data Masking
According to a new report from research firm Gartner entitled “Market Guide for Data Masking”, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has significantly increased the demand for data masking and other de-identification techniques.
Data masking provides users fictitious, yet realistic data, in place of real and sensitive data, so their information can be protected while maintaining their ability to carry out business processes.
The report predicted that the global enterprise use of DM will increase to 40% by 2021 from 15% in 2017. Since data privacy mandates such as the GDPR are moving IT security and risk management professionals to take increasing actions to ensure the protection of sensitive customer data.
