New NY Bill To Help Consumers Request Their Personal Data

New York State Senator Brad Madison Hoylman proposed last week a new bill which seeks to give consumers the right to request the personal data being collected from them by businesses and shared with third-parties.

The “Right to know act of 2019” is also expected to emphasize the importance of transparency in business processes where personal information is being shared between companies.

It is said that Bill S00224 is a step ahead of California’s privacy laws as it includes sexual information, such as sexual orientation, sex, gender status, gender identity, and gender expression.” as a category of personal information.
