New Data Protection Law Shouldn’t Limit Collection and Use, Expert Say

Several experts have recently expressed their opinion on the new data protection law India is set to roll out.

At the recently concluded Data Protection and Privacy seminar, DSCI founder Kamlesh Bajaj said that data-driven innovation should be the core of the new law, and it should not limit data collection or use, only the harm it can cause to citizens.

CIS Executive Director Sunil Abraham said that regulators should not begin with harsh punitive actions now that the law has given them the power to make companies comply.

MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar on the other hand, emphasized that companies should not treat data collection as a “free run”.
