09 Aug Multiple Safeguards to Protect SingHealth Data in Place, Cyber Chief Assures
Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information S. Iswaran assured the Parliament last Monday that multiple safeguards have been put in place to prevent the misuse of SingHealth data.
Iswaran, who is also Minister-in-charge of Cyber Security, explained that financial institutions such as banks do not rely just on personal information to verify customer identity. He added that an attacker would not be able to commit fraudulent transactions or identity theft unless he has all of the customer’s authentication information.
The minister also said that Singaporeans can report cyber-security incidents to the Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team, and personal data breaches to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
