Motel 6 Sued for Giving Customer Information to Immigration Authorities

A US hotel chain called Motel 6 is being sued by the state of Washington for providing its guest list to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents without the guests’ consent.

Washington attorney general Bob Ferguson announced that they have filed the case in King County Superior Court last Wednesday morning. Ferguson further revealed that around six Motel 6 locations had shared guest information with the ICE.

The lawsuit says that the hotel chain had violated the Consumer Protection Act and had conducted unfair and deceptive business practices. In response, Motel 6 said that it would no longer submit the information to ICE and revealed that the company’s senior management had no knowledge of the matter.
