31 Aug Monster.com to be Investigated for Selling Data
A trial court in India has ordered a probe into the alleged selling of data by online job website Monster.com.
Monster is said to have sold the data of job seekers to a third party, but the company is saying that what they did is legal since the clause of acceptance is in their terms of agreements. However, Chief metropolitan magistrate Naresh Kumar Laka says that if companies wish to share or sell their users data, they have to get the user’s “informed consent”, and not just have them agree to their terms of use.
CMM Laka also referred to the landmark SC verdict on privacy, adding that fake job rackets need to be dealt with a firm hand.
