28 Jun Major US News Sites Still Blocking European Users
A number of major American news sites like the Los Angeles Times and New York Daily are still blocking readers from the EU after the implementation of the GDPR.
It is said that a number of websites owned by Tronc and Lee Enterprises are affected, such as the Chicago Tribune, the Orlando Sentinel, and the Baltimore Sun. The websites say that the publishers are “committed to looking at options” to allow EU access. Meanwhile, the Washington Post and Time had EU users to agree to new terms.
The GDPR compels companies that provide services to EU citizens to show lawful basis for processing personal data, or face hefty fines.
