20 Sep Magecart Script Attacks Newegg, Customer Payment Information Stolen
Cybersecurity companies RiskIQ and Volexity reported this week that the Magecart skimmer script had been found silently collecting customer payment information from tech retailer giant Newegg.
The researchers said that the hackers had created a domain called neweggstats.com which was used as a drop site for collecting the credit card information. Given that Newegg was valued at $2.65 billion in 2016, it is estimated that the attack may have affected the data of millions of customers.
The Magecart group is also responsible for the attack on the websites of British Airways, Feedify, and Ticketmaster earlier this year.
