27 Jan Lyft Staff Accused of Abusing Access to Customer Data
A spokesperson for Lyft recently confirmed that they are in the process of investigating accusations of staff freely accessing customer data at will.
The investigation was prompted by reports that an individual claiming to be an ex-employee had anonymously revealed on Blind that staff would use Lyft’s system to snoop on exes, stalk attractive people, or access the contact details of celebrities such as Mark Zuckerberg.
According to digital media company The Information who first revealed the story, all queries into Lyft’s system are logged and attributed to the specific employee. Lyft added that all their employees are trained in data privacy and responsible use policy, and are required to sign agreements preventing them from improperly accessing and misusing customer data.
