London Council Fined £70,000 for Exposing Personal Data of 90,000 Individuals

London, UK – The Islington Council will receive a fine amounting to £70,000 after mistakenly publishing personal information of around 90,000 people on their parking system website.

Sensitive data such as cheques, medical details, home addresses, phone numbers, and even prison records were made publicly accessible just by changing the URL. An investigation into the matter by the Information Commissioner’s Office revealed that 199 documents were accessed and seen by users from 36 unique IPs.

The Islington Council has already issued an apology for not violating data protection standards.
