30 Oct Kids Toys, Baby Monitors at Risk of Hacking, UK Security Services Warn
The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recently issued new guidance to manufacturers, telling them to ensure that children’s toys and baby monitors sold to British families are secure.
It had been reported that some security bugs could potentially allow hackers access audio from a baby monitor or push fake information about the position and temperature of a child on an activity tracker. The NCSC also showed how an interactive doll can be used to unlock a front door hooked to a home’s WiFi connection.
The warning comes after the first ever joint “technical alert” by the UK and US which revealed that Russian hackers were spying on the information passing through unsecured routers, harvesting passwords and data.
