12 Oct Judge Rules in Favor of Privacy in Anti-Trump Website Case
Last Tuesday, a District of Columbia judge limited the reach of a sweeping warrant that would have compelled a webhost provider to turn over all data of visitors to an Anti-Trump website to the Justice Department.
Superior Court Chief Judge Robert E. Morin ruled in a final order, allowing DreamHost to redact identifying information of users who visited Disruptj20.org, which the Justice Department alleged was used to organize anti-Trump riots.
Morin said that the government doesn’t have the right to rummage through the information on the website and identify people who have not participated in criminal activity, particularly ones who were engaging in activities to protect the 1st Amendment.
