Japan Calls for Improved Data Security on Facebook

Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission adopted a resolution on Monday ordering Facebook to implement measures that would prevent incidents such as the firm’s latest data breach.

It is said that the PIPC is the first body to issue such a warning the social media giant. The Commission also requested the social network to clearly explain how it uses personal data, obtain user consent when transferring data to other platforms. Facebook was also told to respond properly to users who request for their data to be deleted.

It was reported that around several million users in Japan had been affected by Facebook’s most recent breach.
