23 May Israeli Company Poised to Launch Citywide Surveillance Products
In a recent interview, Israeli company Jenovice Cyber Labs revealed that it is now selling an “autonomous surveillance system” capable of monitoring entire metropolitan areas to law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The company says that its Metropolink system is able to locate, list, map, track, analyze and visualize all Wi-Fi networks and identities across any environment of the customer’s choosing. Using a network of sensors placed around a large populated area, Metropolink can track devices by identifiers such as MAC address and geolocation.
However, the developer of an earlier surveillance project similar to Metropolink pointed out that such systems carry with it profound privacy problems that can lead to large-scale surveillance.
