23 Jan Irish High Court to Take Time With Questions on Schrems Privacy Case
Justice Caroline Costello of the Irish High Court recently announced that she will be taking time to determine what questions to present to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) with regards to the EU-US privacy case involving Facebook and activist Max Schrems.
The long-running legal battle had already cost the Irish data protection commissioner half of her normal annual budget.
The judge will also deciding whether to grant Facebook’s application to correct what it argues are ‘certain factual’ errors made in her judgement in October 2017. The company had been granted an application by the Irish data protection commissioner to refer questions on EU-US data transfers to the CJEU for adjudication.
