Irish Data Watchdog to Consult with Schools on Data Protection Rights

Ireland’s Data Protection Commision will be consulting with schools throughout the State on the matter of children’s data protection rights under the GDPR.

The consultation, which will run until March 1st, 2019, will have two strands – one for adults and one for children.

The commission said that it could be particularly “challenging” to separate out data protection and privacy issues from others, as well as risks children are exposed to when they are active online, such as cyberbullying, online addiction, and harmful content.
