11 Oct International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners Adopts Connected Car Resolution
Three separate non-binding resolutions were produced in the closed sessions at the 39th International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners that was held in Hong Kong last September.
The resolution adopts the position that Privacy and data protection authorities (DPAs) have repeatedly taken, which is to consider transparency on personal data use and user control a critical component in connected vehicles.
The resolution also pushes for the incorporation of privacy by design in the development of new autonomous device or service, as well as calling on relevant parties to fully respect the user’s personal data protection rights.
