09 Dec Inspector General: Homeland Needs to Step Up Privacy Protection
According to a recent audit by the Homeland Security Inspector General, the medical records and other sensitive personal data of DHS employees are not being given adequate protections.
The Inspector General said that the agency’s Office of Health Affairs did not meet federal requirements for the protection of personally identifiable information, and attributed the shortcomings to the leadership’s failure to foster a “culture of privacy” in the organization.
The IG then gave a total of 11 recommendations on how the OHA can pass the requirements.
