Speakers at Forrester’s recently held Privacy and Security Europe event emphasized how prioritizing data privacy and security is a competitive edge for for successful organizations.
Akhilesh Tuteja of KPMG advised CEO’s to consider investing more on privacy and protection over brand reputation. He added that trust has become a strategic differentiator in the digital age, and a data breach can easily boot a CEO faster than a year’s worth of bad performance.
Meanwhile, Natasha McCabe of Royal Mail suggested that some organizations will have to rethink their IT security strategy to cope with market changes, adding that the IT-led change in her organization involved embedding security in all aspects of their digital transformation.
Fatemeh Khatibloo of Forrester said that there is often a disconnect between marketing teams and IT departments, which can be bridged by creating a cross-department privacy working group.
