03 Aug India’s IT Minister Seeks Balance Between Availability, Privacy and Utility in Data Protection Law
Commenting on India’s proposed data protection law this week, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that an approach to data which balances availability, interpretation, utility, and privacy has to be achieved for the country to be a global center.
Prasad also said that he would welcome suggestions and encourage a detailed debate on the issue before framing the law.
Prasad also said that social media platforms have to eliminate the circulation of fake news on their own, and the government will not tolerate further data abuse similar to what Cambridge Analytica did.
