Indian Supreme Court May Deliver Privacy Verdict Next Week

Earlier this week, the bench of Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud revealed that the judgement on the right to privacy may be pronounced around next week. This was in response to the plea of Salman Kurshid, a senior advocate pushing for the expedited listing of his petition that challenged the passing of the Aadhaar Bill as a Money Bill.

The court added that a date for the listing of the plea will come only after the privacy verdict has been made.

A marathon of argument s done over 6 days in three weeks had been heard by the Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar. Leaning in favor of overarching guidelines to private information in public domain, the bench said that maintaining a core of privacy is needed in a technological era that is swiftly rendering the notion of privacy irrelevant.
