15 Aug Indian Companies Lagging on GDPR Compliance: EY
Advisory firm EY said this week that as much as 63% of Indian companies are still lagging on their compliance to the EU’s new data protection rules.
The figure was established after the firm’s survey last April-June which covered 80 companies, including 11% of companies with revenue of over Rs 10,000 crore, 4% with Rs 5,000-10,000 crore, 16% with Rs 1,000-5,000 crore range, 22% between Rs 500-1,000 crore, and 47% having less than Rs 500 crore income.
76% of the companies said that they recognize the need to comply with their own information governance policies as the leading factor in their GDPR compliance. However, 60% said that the inadequacy of skilled talent presented a major obstacle to their compliance.
