29 Aug IDF Unit Caught Selling Personal Info of Thousands of Israeli Soldiers
It was reported this week that Israel’s Ministry of Justice’s Protection of Privacy Unit (PPU) has concluded its investigation into the systematic violation of hundreds of thousands of discharged soldiers and civilians’ privacy
It was found that lists including the information of individuals born between 1988 to 1993 had been removed from the database of the Meitav Unit in the IDF, which screens and assigns inductees for military service.
The suspects were said to have had a program through which they contacted soldiers, civilians and family members for marketing purposes. In addition, the information was also sold to third parties.
