26 Oct ICO Finds Most UK Websites Privacy Notice Inadequate
The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) recently reviewed 30 websites in the country from the retail, banking, and travel sectors and found their data privacy and protection notices to be inadequate.
26 out of the 30 websites also failed to clarify details on how the user’s information will be stored or transferred internationally, and if the data would shared with a third party and how. 24 of the websites did not provide their users a way to delete their data from the website, while 7 did not specify how the user can access the information which they have provided.
The review, led by ICO, assessed 455 websites from various sectors and concluded that there is still significant room for improvement in terms of privacy communications.
