22 May IBM: Quantum Computers Will Instantly Break Encryption
Director of IBM Research Arvind Krishna recently warned that quantum computers will be able to instantly break the strongest encryption available today and advised those who use it to protect their data to look at alternatives.
Krishna added that it could be as soon as within the next five years given the current rate of advancement in quantum computer technologies.
The IBM head however said that that there a type of encryption called Lattice Field may prove to be resistant to quantum computing attacks. He added that is as efficient as current encryption standards so it will not cost more.
