11 Jul House Republican Leadership Seeks Answers from Apple, Google on Smartphone Data Privacy
In letters last Monday, the Republican leadership of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sought to obtain answers from Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Larry Page regarding the details about their smartphone data collection practices.
Signed by the committee’s chairman and the heads of three subcommittees, the letters also had questions on the limits the companies place on the data collection of third-party app developers.
While a Google spokesperson reassured that user privacy and security information is of utmost importance to the company, Apple declined to issue a comment.
