09 Nov Hong Kong Travel Agency Data Held for Ransom by Hackers
Worldwide Package Travel Service, a travel agency in Hong Kong, was forced to temporarily close after its systems got hacked and its database held for ransom.
The company said that information including client names, Hong Kong ID numbers, passport details, phone numbers, credit card information and purchase records were accessed by the hacker. Executive director Joseph Tung Yiu-chung of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong said that it was their first ever encounter of a travel agency getting hacked.
The incident is now being investigated by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau.
