17 Oct We Heart It Breach Compromises 8 Million Customer Accounts
Image-sharing website We Heart It informed its users over the weekend of a breach which had occurred a few years ago that now affects around 8 million accounts.
The company said in a statement that data such as encrypted passwords, usernames and emails may have been compromised. They additionally revealed that the encryption algorithm that was used back in 2013 had been rendered unsecure by new hardware, but necessary measures were taken to fix the situation, including using the secure bycrypt algorithm.
The company advised their users that even though there had been no recorded unauthorized logins, they should still update their passwords.
