28 Apr Health Secretary Duque Fends Off Obstruction Case
Last Wednesday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III blasted the obstruction of justice complaint filed against him by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), calling it “baseless, malicious, and counterproductive.”
The PAO said that Duque is hampering the ongoing efforts of the Department of Health (DOH) to provide accessible health care to those vaccinated with Dengvaxia. However, Duque countered that the PAO could have just obtained a subpoena to get the dengue vaccine master list from the DOH, since the National Privacy Commission had already warned them about a possible unauthorized sharing of information.
The Secretary also denied claims by the PAO that he had worked as a consultant under Health Secretary Janette Garin and took part in policy-making at the DOH during that time.
