06 Sep GSM Association Urges Asian Governments to Align Data Regulations
Mobile network industry body GSMA recently urged governments, particularly ones in the Asian region, to to “align” their data privacy laws to improve international data flows.
The GSMA adds that better data flows are associated with increased global GDP and boost in trade. On the other hand, governments that hinder cross-border data exchanges put at risk their economic prosperity. The trade body also suggested taking the data regulations down to the lowest common denominator.
The GSMA included their findings and recommendations in its reports: The ‘Regional Privacy Frameworks and Cross-Border Data Flows’ and The ‘Cross-Border Data Flows: Realising Benefits and Removing Barriers’.
