12 Oct Google Home Mini Accidentally Records Blogger Without His Knowledge
Google’s new smart speaker, the Home Mini, ran into a hitch this week, right before its release date on the 18th. It had accidentally recorded a blogger for about a week and transmitted the recording back to Google without the user’s knowledge.
The tech blogger, Artem Russakovskii of AndroidPolice, uploaded a video on YouTube that showed how the speaker self-triggered. He contacted Google about the issue, who immediately sent someone over to retrieve the device for analysis.
Google immediately released a fix for the bug that causes the touch mechanism to malfunction. The firmware version 1.28.100122 should address the issue with the long press feature that affected a number of units.
