Google Defends Gmail Scanning Policy Before US Lawmakers

Susan Molinari, VP of public policy and government affairs for the Americas at Google, told US senators in a letter this week that the company is still allowing developers to share Gmail data with third parties as long as they are transparent with users on how the data is used.

She added that Gmail’s privacy policy can easily be accessed by users if they wish to review it before granting access to third-party apps, which they can remove anytime.

Molinari also said that no employees are able to see the contents of a Gmail account, except for specific cases where the owner allows them to, or for security cases.
