18 Jul Global Telecoms Giant Hit by Data Breach
Spanish telecommunications provider Telefonica admitted this week that it was hit by a breach that exposed the personal and financial information of millions of Spanish users of the firm’s Movistar services.
The breach was discovered by a user who reported it FACUA, a Spanish non-profit that specializes in consumer rights protections. The user said he was able to view the personal data of other Movistar users via the online customer portal. .
Telefonica said that it immediately addressed the problem last Monday. However, FACUA had already filed a complaint with the Spanish Agency for Data Protection (AEPD) against the company.
