04 Aug Glenview/Glencoe Women’s Group Urges Support for Voters’ Privacy
Last Wednesday, a call to support the integrity of U.S. electoral process was led by Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe to stand with the Illinois State Board of Elections (SBE) in maintaining their position to uphold voters’ privacy.
The League of Women Voters penned a public letter to news networks, explaining how vice chairman of Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity (PACEI) Kris Kobach sent an executive order that required election administrators from all 50 states to submit voters’ data.
The PACEI requested information including full names and addresses, political affiliations, partial social security numbers, possible felony convictions, and military status.
Illinois SBE responded to the request stating that they do not possess any material relevant to the committee’s demand. They also asserted state responsibility to uphold voter confidentiality and data privacy.
The SBC is slated to meet again on August 22, with the League of Women Voters supporting the board to stand their ground.
