27 Jan French Startup Builds Privacy-focused Personal Cloud Services
A French startup named Cozy recently announced that it will be creating an ecosystem of “privacy-respecting” open-sourced services. Some of its services, such as Cozy Drive and Cozy Photos, were unveiled this week.
The company is known mainly as a cloud storage service provider similar to Dropbox. However, it says that unlike its competitors which collect significant amounts of data from its users for ad targeting, Cozy wants users to be in con trol of their data. The company indicates in their Terms of Service that the customer’s data will not be shared with anyone unless consent is given, and privacy-minded users can even install Cozy on their own servers.
Since the service is not ad-driven, Cozy’s premium plans are priced at $3.71 per month for 50GB or $12.40 per month for 1000GB.
