02 Mar French News Site Exposes Reader Data Online
It was recently reported that French media company L’Express had leaked the information of its readers due to an unsecured server which was left online without a password for weeks.
The server was discovered by Florida resident Mickey Dimov who works for a major defense contractor. Dimov had informed the company about the security issue in January, but the magazine did not respond or take action.
Dimov said that he tried to fend off hackers while the company was being unresponsive. When ZDNet finally got hold of L’Express editor-in-chief Emma Defaud, she merely thanked Dimov for the effort and downplayed the impact of their negligence.
