French Cop Charged for Selling Police Data on Dark Web

An officer of the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure (DGSI) working under the pseudonym “Haurus” was caught selling confidential police information in exchange for Bitcoin.

The officer reportedly sold sensitive documents on the a dark web market called the Black Hand where it made its way to cybercriminals who used the information to create forged documents.   

Haurus also advertised a service that can track the location of phones based on its number. The service is believed to be part of the French Police’s resources intended for use on criminals.
