Ford Considers Profiting Off Customer Data

Ford is reportedly looking at the data it can collect from 100 million of its customers as a revenue source that may help counter its fast declining sales outside of North America.

Ford CEO Jim Hackett said in a recent podcast that the company already has data on its customers, and is able to get insights such as how much a person makes, where they work, and even detailed information like how long they have stayed in a particular house.

Hackett also added that they have never been challenged on how they use the data, a remark that sparked alarm on Twitter. One users said that the CEO showed no concern whatsoever for privacy and no ethical considerations, even while talking about linking with personal medical data while in the vehicle.
