21 Apr Facebook’s Privacy Practices Cleared by PwC During Leak Period
An assessment which PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP had previously submitted to the FTC surfaced in a report by the Wall Street Journal report last Thursday. It revealed that the auditing firm had cleared Facebook’s privacy practices during the period when Cambridge Analytica had been able to scrape user data from the social network.
The report, which covered the period from Feb. 12, 2015 to Feb. 11, 2017, said that Facebook had “established and implemented a comprehensive privacy program, and its privacy controls were operating with sufficient effectiveness to provide reasonable assurance to protect the privacy of covered information.” The assessment can be seen on the FTC’s website.
PwC had declined to issue a comment about the matter.
