04 Jul Facebook Wins Privacy Lawsuit on User Tracking
A lawsuit alleging Facebook of tracking user activity after logging out has been dismissed by a U.S judge.
Edward Davila, U.S District Judge in San Jose, California said that the plaintiffs were unable to provide reasonable privacy expectations. They also did not suffer any legitimate economic harm or loss.
The complainants alleged that federal and California wiretapping laws have been violated by Facebook with cookie storage that monitored websites they visited with the social media’s “like” icons or buttons.
Davila countered that the complainants had the ability to keep their browsing histories private and does not show that tech giant Facebook unlawfully tapped into their communications.
