28 Jul Facebook, Twitter Blame GDPR for User Drop
Facebook and Twitter recently said that Europe’s new data privacy rules had caused the drop in users on their platforms.
Facebook’s Chief Financial Officer David Wehner said that they already anticipated the declines that would be caused by the GDPR, and the impact was solely because of that and not due to any other engagement trends.
However, European lawmakers argued that the US tech giant’s privacy scandal was much more of a driver for user disengagement. Wix COO Nir Zohar also pointed out that Europe’s new privacy rules had no impact on their business, while Google’s Sundar Pichai said that it was too early for them to tell how they would be impacted.
