27 Oct Facebook Fined £500,000 by UK’s ICO for Cambridge Analytica Scandal
Facebook has been penalized by the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) £500,000 for its data breach scandal involving Cambridge Analytica.
The ICO said that it had found that Facebook had allowed the “unfair” sharing of user data with developers without “clear and informed consent between 2007 and 2014.
The UK regulator added that even after discovering the misuse of data December 2015, Facebook did not do enough to ensure that those who stored it had taken adequate and timely remedial action, including deletion.
