25 Apr Facebook Delays Launch of Smart Speakers Due to Privacy Scandal
Facebook has reportedly pushed back the launch of its smart speakers until October as the company struggles to deal with the privacy controversy it is currently embroiled in. The speakers were supposed to be unveiled in May but postponed after being recently questioned by two congressional committees.
The device, which is said to be similar to Amazon’s Echo Show, will come with a 15-inch display. Mass production had been scheduled in June, but the company has decided to cut order volumes by 20% for this year, possibly due to growing consumer privacy concerns that smart speakers are being used by companies to spy on users.
