Facebook Bug Changes Millions of User’s Status Composer to Public

It was recently revealed that a Facebook bug had accidentally changed the privacy setting of the status composer and changed it to “public”. The issue had apparently affected as much as 14 million users which the company are now seeking to notify.

Facebook’s Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan told TechCrunch that the bug had been active from May 18th to the 22nd, but they were only able to switch it back to normal on the 27th. Those whose accounts had been affected will receive a notification that leads to a page of info about the issue, with a link to review affected posts.
