07 Jun Facebook Admits to Sharing Data with Chinese Device Manufacturers
Facebook admitted last Tuesday that they had also entered data-sharing agreements with Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo, and TCL a few years ago, some of which date back to 2010.
The social network added that while the partnerships are still in effect, the agreement with Huawei may be ended this week. Huawei, as well as ZTE, are regarded by the US government as security risks as they maintain close ties with Beijing.
It was also revealed that Facebook’s agreements with the Chinese companies was similar to that of BlackBerry’s where the developers could retrieve detailed information from the device user and all of their friends — including religious and political leanings, work and education history and relationship status.
