Extortionists Target iPhone Cracker GrayShift, Demand Bitcoin Ransom

It was revealed last week that an unknown party had leaked parts of the code used in GrayKey, a device used for cracking up-to-date iPhones. The extortionists had reportedly threatened the device maker, GrayShift, and said that they will leak the rest of the code unless the company pays a ransom of 2 Bitcoin ($15,000).

GrayShift had confirmed with tech website Motherboard that one of their unit’s UI had been exposed online for a brief period earlier this month, but no sensitive data was compromised.

The extortionists also created another Bitcoin wallet address to receive funds from bidders who want the information to be released, but neither GrayShift nor other bidders have paid any ransom so far.
