21 Dec EU Gives Trump Administration Deadline to Appoint Official for EU-US Privacy Agreement
Brussels set a February deadline for the Trump administration to select a key official for the EU-US Privacy Shield which was signed by Obama in 2016.
European parliamentarians and privacy watchdogs have recently questioned the current US administration’s commitment to the pact. Meanwhile, the US also criticized the EU laws and said that it places unfair burdens on small businesses.
However, despite requiring the US to appoint an “ombudsman”, the commission says that Washington is still able to provide an adequate level of protection for the pact.
